elder-flowered orchid

LB: Hielenner-Fangerwuerzel FR: orchis sureau DE: Holunder-Kuckucksblume

The elder-flowered orchid takes its name from the elderflower-like smell of its flowers. In our region only the yellow color variety is found, in more southern regions it can also be found together with the red color variety in one population. The elder-flowered orchid grows on acid soils in dry and fresh meadows and rough grasslands, but has been extinct in Luxembourg for a long time.
