bee orchid

LB: Beien-Aperhoerorchidee FR: ophrys abeille DE: Bienen-Ragwurz

The flowers of the bee orchid, as is common in Ophrys species, imitate the appearance of certain insects that they attract as pollinators. When the pollinia bend towards the stigma, pollination can take place even without the presence of an insect. This is the rule in our latitudes. It grows in dry, warm calcareous grasslands of the Gutland.
