man orchid

LB: Gaalgemännche-Bouwekraut FR: orchis homme-pendu DE: Ohnsporn, Puppenorchis

The flower lips of the man orchid resemble small human silhouettes. The species is also still called Ohnsporn, (= without spur) because the flowers do not have a spur. Nevertheless, insects find plenty of nectar in the flowers. The man orchid is found on sunny calcareous dry grasslands in the Gutland.
